FRUIT BODY: 10 - 20cm in diameter. Medium fan-shaped bracked that usually grows in overlapping tiers. The upper surface is finely felted, uneven and white becoming slightly tan with age. SPINES: The spines are of medium length and white and discolour pale tan when handled. FLESH: White, thick and with a pleasant taste and smell. SPORES: White, elliptical. HABITAT: In tiers or singularly on fallen logs, especially beech. SEASON: Rare. Summer to autumn. EDIBILITY: Edible. |
